Wivenhoe Quay

Take a look around our town (or village). Once a thriving small port, the ship building has all gone now. Only three or four working fishing boats remain.

The old shipyard lies derelict awaiting the developers.

Attempts are being made to retain some of its former glory.

Winter Scenes.

The pictures (linked left) don't do it justice. Wivenhoe is a lovely place to be. Beautiful countryside, great walks and wildlife in abundance.

The town infrastructure, particularly the roads in the old part are tend to become clogged with London bound commuter cars. This hinders visitors to the few excellent small shops that are left. However, there is some small free car parking around that make the trip worthwhile.

Visit some of the old style pubs near to the river, take a walk or enjoy local caught fish and chips or just sit and watch the world go by.
